Get your Hair Reduction Goals

If you are looking into Laser Hair Removal, is because most likely you want to achieve smooth hairless skin the soonest possible.  We have protocols for safety and effectiveness but if you want to achieve amazing results make sure you follow this three golden rules.

Be Consistent

Being consistent with treatment is important to get results with Laser Hair Removal because the effectiveness of the treatment depends on destroying hair follicles during their active growth phase. Hair follicles go through different growth phases, including anagen (active growth phase), catagen (transitional phase), and telogen (resting phase).

Laser Hair Removal targets the hair follicles during the anagen phase, when they are actively growing and have the most melanin (pigment) present. The laser energy is absorbed by the melanin, which then converts the energy into heat, damaging and destroying the hair follicle.

However, not all hair follicles are in the anagen phase at the same time, so multiple treatment sessions are required to target all the hair follicles during their anagen phase. Typically, a series of 6-8 treatment sessions are recommended to achieve optimal results.

If you skip treatments or have long gaps between treatments, you may miss targeting some hair follicles during their anagen phase, which can lead to suboptimal results or even the need for additional treatments in the future. In addition, consistency in treatment can help to ensure that the laser energy is delivered at the appropriate intensity and duration, which is important for maximizing effectiveness while minimizing the risk of complications.

Work on your Pain Tolerance

Having a good pain tolerance can be helpful during Laser Hair Removal because the treatment can be uncomfortable or even painful for some individuals. Laser Hair Removal works by using a laser to target and destroy hair follicles, which can cause a sensation similar to a rubber band snapping against the skin.

While the pain level can vary from person to person, some individuals may find the sensation to be more intense or uncomfortable than others. If you have a low pain tolerance, you may find the treatment to be more difficult to tolerate, which can make it harder to complete a full course of treatments or achieve optimal results.

In addition, if you are unable to tolerate the pain of the treatment, it may be more difficult for the technician to deliver the laser energy at the appropriate intensity and duration, which can impact the effectiveness of the treatment. For example, if you flinch or move during the treatment due to pain, the laser may not be able to deliver the energy to the hair follicle with as much precision, which can reduce the effectiveness of the treatment.

However, it is important to note that there are different types of lasers and cooling methods available for Laser Hair Removal that can help to minimize discomfort during the treatment. At Satori Laser we use Cryogen, which is cold gas at a very low temperature, this should make a big difference in how uncomfortable treatment is if you compare it to other companies that use just cold air or cooling gel. But still, as the hair gets thinner on the area you are treating the energy of the laser is gradually increased and you should be able to go through treatment even at a very high energy level.

Run away from the sun and artificial tanning

Avoiding tanning is helpful with Laser Hair Removal results because tanned skin has more melanin, the pigment that the laser targets to destroy hair follicles. When the laser energy is absorbed by the melanin in the skin, it can cause damage to the skin, such as burns, blisters, and hyperpigmentation.

During Laser Hair Removal, the goal is to target the melanin in the hair follicle, not the surrounding skin. If the skin is too dark or tanned, the laser may also be absorbed by the skin, increasing the risk of complications and reducing the effectiveness of the treatment.

In addition, tanning can also cause changes in the texture and quality of the skin, making it more difficult for the laser energy to penetrate and reach the hair follicle. This can lead to suboptimal results or the need for additional treatments.

Therefore, it is recommended that individuals avoid tanning, both natural and artificial, for at least four to six weeks before and two weeks after Laser Hair Removal. This allows the skin to return to its natural color and reduces the risk of complications. If you are constantly exposing the areas your are treating to sun or artificial tanning your appointment will most likely be rescheduled until is safe and this just delays your process and results.

Satori Laser warrantees up to 95% hair reduction, only if the client meets these requirements. Committing to the process and making the small sacrifices Laser Hair Removal requires for a period of time, it will really pay off. We promise!
