Can I Go Swimming after Laser?

Planning a pool day or beach trip after your laser hair removal appointment? You may want to wait.

After laser hair removal, your skin is more sensitive than usual. Swimming too soon can increase the risk of irritation and slow the healing process.

How Long Should I Wait?

At Satori Laser, we recommend waiting 24–48 hours before swimming in:

  • Swimming pools
  • Hot tubs

At Satori Laser, we recommend waiting 2 weeks before swimming in:

  • Ocean
  • Lake

If your skin is still red, tender, or irritated after 48 hours, it's best to wait until it has fully recovered before getting back in the water.

Other Activities to Avoid

For the first 24–48 hours after treatment, it's also best to avoid:

  • Hot tubs and saunas
  • Steam rooms
  • Very hot showers
  • Intense exercise that causes heavy sweating

These activities can increase skin irritation while your skin is healing.

Tips for Summer Treatments

If you have a beach or pool vacation planned:

  • Schedule your laser appointment a few days before or after your trip.
  • Avoid direct sun exposure for 2 weeks after treatment.
  • Wear SPF 30+ sunscreen and protective clothing on treated areas.
