Laser Hair Removal Side Effects
Some of the common side effects of laser hair removal are itching, pink skin, redness, and swelling around the treatment area or swelling of the follicles (follicular edema). These side effects rarely last more than two or three days. The two most common serious side effects are acne and skin discoloration.
In our treatment process, we often meet people that have fear about the treatments due to a lack of knowledge of laser hair removal. On one hand, they listen to friends that have had a great experience with laser hair removal and have had great results. On the other hand, they also listen to friends that have had a bad experience and did not meet their expectations.
Most of the people are very hesitant to do laser hair removal is due to lack of knowledge about the laser hair removal process.

Are lasers Pain-free?
We often heard people say certain types of lasers are pain-free.
This is wrong, painless is propaganda to deceive customers. And is clearly described on the FDA’s Web site for laser hair removal. So far, there is no laser that is FDA approved that can provide a completely pain-free treatment.
Most of the companies say they have the best and latest laser equipment on the market to give the best results and the pain is minimal.

Patented Cooling System
We know from experience that Candela Laser’s with their patented cooling system is the best for minimal discomfort.
This is the main reason Satori Laser uses only Candela Laser’s to service our clients, as we are a Certified Candela Laser Center. With Candela Laser’s, we are able to use the correct settings for hair removal because of the cooling system (ie: high settings without discomfort).
Why do some people feel that the results are less than expected?
Results of laser hair removal are affected by four important reasons:
- Be sure to use a professional laser center or doctor, at Satori Laser we only specialize in laser hair removal.
- Different lasers will give different results depending on the type of laser used.
- Laser Tech’s experience is directly related to results of the treatment. Having a laser certificate does not mean satisfactory results, good results only come from an experienced technician.
- Skin type determines results. Dark hair with light color skin will yield very good results. However, different complexions may not result in satisfactory results.
Laser hair removal by IPL:
IPL is NOT laser hair removal.
Intense pulsed light (IPL) epilators, though technically not containing a laser, use xenon flash lamps that emit full spectrum light. IPL-based methods, sometimes called “AFT”, “phototricholysis” or “photo epilation”, are now commonly (but incorrectly) referred to as “laser hair removal”.（from Wikipedia.）
It has been our experience that you can use IPL for other services, but we do not recommend customers use for hair removal.
Candela Laser has lasers to treat all types of skin types, from light skin to dark skin and from light color hair to dark hair. And Candela has hybrid models to cover all types of skin.

Since you say, Candela, laser machine has such advantages, why laser hair removal market doesn’t utilization it as much as it should be?
Candela laser hair removal machines generally have two different models (GENTLE LASE, GENTLE YAG) in order to meet the requirements of all skin types.
Candela also launched a hybrid CANDELA MAX models, but overall to Candela Gentle Lase and Gentle Yag still is the flagship product in the laser industry. This leads to higher operators cost to the company. Plus the candela cooling system needs to replace the Cryogen several times a day, the price is also very expensive. Therefore only companies that offer high-quality service will consider using this excellent machine.
