Laser Hair Removal for Teenagers; Good Idea?

Laser hair removal is a popular and effective method for permanently reducing unwanted hair growth. However, for teenagers, the procedure may come with some additional considerations.

Firstly, laser hair removal is not recommended for individuals under 18 years of age, as the skin and hair growth patterns are still developing and changing during this stage. It's always best to wait until the individual has reached adulthood and their hair growth patterns have stabilized. It is hard to predict how many sessions the teenager will need to get to their desired results.

Secondly, while laser hair removal is considered safe, it's important to keep in mind that the procedure can cause some discomfort, and teenagers may be more sensitive to pain. At Satori Laser we use Cryogen to minimize the discomfort but it's always good to let the teenager know what to expect before the procedure, maybe starting with a test patch for them to try it out before jumping into full treatments is a better idea.

Another thing to consider is that laser hair removal can be expensive, especially if multiple sessions are needed to achieve desired results, which is very common for teenagers. It's important to have a realistic expectation of the results and the cost before proceeding with the treatment.

Lastly, it's important to note that laser hair removal is not a one-time procedure, multiple sessions are needed to achieve desired results. It's important for the teenager and the parents to understand that it's a commitment and that consistency is key. We have noticed that with busy school schedules and extra curricular activities, teenagers often tend to be very inconsistent with their visits.

It's best to wait until the individual has reached adulthood and their hair growth patterns have stabilized. However, in specific cases where the hair is something that is holding the teenager from feeling confident and enjoying their youth, Laser Hair Removal is a great option, much better than waxing, which can also lead to ingrown hair or shaving that can cause pigmentation and cuts.

At Satori Laser we require the presence of the legal guardian during Consultation, this way also an adult is helping the teenager to follow through with pre care and post care. The legal guardian will need to sign some forms, after the first time Consultation the teenager can continue coming to their treatments by themselves. The youngest person we can treat is 14 years old, and for Brazilian treatment we require our client to be 18 years old.

Book a Consultation and create a personal plan for your daughter or son, before making any decisions.
